Unlocking Exclusive Access: Setting up the Audience for Your Tokengated Campaign with PERCS Shopify App

Setting up the audience of your tokengated campaign is one of the most important decisions of your campaign, basically, you are defining the ones that will be able to retrieve the exclusive utility you are offering.

In this blog, you will learn what are allow-listed audiences and how they play a crucial role in tokengated campaigns using the PERCS Shopify app.

In resume, what's an Audience?

Allow-listed audience refers to a group of wallet addresses that have exclusive access to tokengated utilities. These wallet addresses can belong to holders of a specific NFT or any desired group of addresses.

Types of Audiences and How to Add Them

When creating a tokengated campaign, you have the option to add an audience or select from previously added audiences. PERCS offers several types of audiences:

  1. Ethereum NFT Owners (ERC-721): To add this audience, you need to enter the smart contract address of an ERC-721 contract. PERCS tracks transactions and updates every 30-60 minutes to keep ownership data up to date. You can also filter this audience based on traits such as token ID numbers.
  2. Polygon NFT Owners (ERC-721): Similar to Ethereum NFT owners, this audience requires the smart contract address of a Polygon-based ERC-721 contract. PERCS tracks transactions and updates ownership data regularly.
  3. Custom Wallet List: If you have a specific list of wallet addresses that you want to grant access to, you can upload a CSV file containing the addresses and associated unique identifiers (e.g., token ID numbers). This option provides flexibility as you can include wallets owning tokens on any EVM-compatible chain, including BNB Chain, Harmony, Fantom, and more. It's important to note that the allow-list remains static and is based on the addresses present in the uploaded CSV file.
  4. Test Wallet: This option allows you to add a single wallet address for testing purposes. It is useful to verify and test the tokengating campaign before making it live.

Benefits of ERC-721 Audiences vs. Custom Wallet Lists

ERC-721 audiences provide automated tracking of ownership and transaction data. PERCS fetches the required data within 2-4 hours, after which you can test or use the audience. On the other hand, custom wallet lists offer greater flexibility as they support wallets holding tokens on various EVM-compatible chains. These lists don't have automated updates, so the allow-list remains static based on the addresses provided in the CSV file.

Examples of Audience Utilization

Allow-listed audiences can be used creatively to grant exclusive access based on specific conditions. Here are a few examples:

  1. Leisure Project: Giveaways for wallet addresses that own four or more tokens.
  2. Applied Ape Equipment: Tokengated access for wallets that not only own a particular NFT but also passed an earlier challenge.
  3. Dented Feels: Exclusive access to wallets holding both Dented Feels and Cryptoon Goonz NFTs.

PERCS offers you the freedom to choose the audiences that can access your tokengated utilities based on your campaign requirements.

Conclusion

Allow-listed audiences are an essential component of tokengated campaigns using the PERCS Shopify app. They define the group of wallet addresses with exclusive access to tokengated utilities. Whether you choose ERC-721 audiences, custom wallet lists, or other options, PERCS provides the necessary tools to manage and control access.
