Harnessing the Power of the XMTP Protocol
The new feature is developed based on the XMTP protocol, a promising standard in the Web3 space, known for its secure and decentralized nature. The Coinbase wallet users can now send and receive messages in a fully encrypted format directly between wallets, ensuring a secure and private conversation channel, which is a vital addition in the era of heightened cybersecurity threats.
Aside from messages, users can also transfer money directly to their friends, and even make offers on NFTs!
How to use the new Feature
To get started, it's needed Coinbase Wallet mobile app and a .lens account, or receive an invitation via QR code. Once you’ve downloaded or imported the wallet, you’ll find your inbox located on the ‘Assets’ tab in the Coinbase Wallet app.
Now, you can message your friends either with your ENS handle, Ethereum address, or Coinbase ID, being of your decision choosing what handle you'll use and that the recipients will be able to read.
